We’ve recently been checking out some slot car options for the magnificent Lancia Delta HF Integrale, here at The Scalextric Slot.
SCX currently offer a reasonably impressive car, with Fina livery, which is up to the good standards we’ve come to expect from this Spanish manufacturer. However, there is another Lancia Delta car available from Team Slot, another Spanish company, which is far more desirable in our opinion.
The Team Slot Lancia Delta sports the classic Martini livery, which has become synonymous with legendary rally greats such as Juha Kankkunen during the late 80s/early 90s. In addition to this, it is a well built car with a great race feel and a little more weight than a standard Scalextric car, as well as being highly tunable for people like us!
The Team Slot Lancia Delta
The down side of this is that the car is something of a rarity when it comes to getting hold of one. They are out there though, and a good example of one sold on ebay last month for around £40, which is well worth the money, so keep your eyes peeled if you want to add the ultimate Lancia Delta to your slot car collection.
Continuing on the theme of the awesome rally winning classics we’re currently seeing from SCX, the Talbot Sunbeam Lotus is an absolute gem. The Sunbeam was never a match for the classic poise of the MKII Escort, but it continues to grow old gracefully and was certainly capable of giving the Escort a run for its money when Henri Toivonen steered it to victory in the 1980 Lombard RAC Rally.
The SCX Talbot Sunbeamslot car features xenon effect headlamps, suspension guide and removable/adjustable magnet. Again, it’s the level of detail in these SCX cars that leaves you reaching for your wallet almost subconsciously. However, it’s money well spent in our opinion that will bring countless hours of pleasure.
SCX are now producing a fantastic range of classic rally cars. The attention to detail is truly superb and they come with front and back High intensity Xenon Headlamps, Removable and Adjustable Magnet and a Suspension mounted guide. Both these cars were Rally thoroughbreds and almost as much fun in the slot as on the track. The cars really capture the beautiful design and wonderful stance these beasts had back in the day!
By the way….if you’re looking for the winning Ford Escort MkII from 1977 for your collection The Team at SCX do that as well!
Here at the Scalextric Slot we’re going to be looking at all things slot car based which means we won’t be tied down to just one manufacturer.
1/32 Scale slot cars are produced all over the world by various companies so if you’ve got some Scalextric track in your loft and you fancy getting yourself a new set of wheels for it the choice has never been wider. Carrera, Cartrix, Fly, Ninco, SCX, and Spirit are just a few of the brand names that currently make cars suitable for use on the Scalextric track systems.
These days you can race with almost any type of car you want from modern F1 and Nascar right through to classic rally cars and even off road 4×4′s if that’s your automotive poison! You can now own pretty much whatever you want. Fancy a Ferrari 250 GTO? the last real one sold at auction for £24.7 million! The slot car version however can be yours for about £40 or how about Batman’s Tumbler Batmobile from the Dark Knight film, again a quick hunt around on the net and it’s all yours.
Here at the Slot we can’t resist our classic rally and touring cars. Take a look at this Spirit BMW 635CSI Jagermeister we picked up recently. The car didn’t come with working lights but a quick trip to Maplin for some LEDs and an hour spent with the solder kit and the night race was on!
